i bought my HB static dropped, notched, and bridged and the way it appears that the notch wast done is just a piece of 2x4 box tubing, about 10" long is welded to the top of the frame, and a 4-4.5" long piece of the frame above the axle is cut out and all the ends capped off. the brdige bars are 2" square tubing, so i don't think theres a problem there... is that going to be a big enough notch if i'm going to be running 20's in the rear, or will i have to re-notch it properly?

just so everyone isn't affraid for my safety, it does appear that they welded some flat plate steel on the sides as a gusset type deal

you will need a bigger notch then for bags and 20's. someone nothched mine like that barely lays with 17's with 215-45's. I will be redoin the backhalf soon on mine.

someone on here I thought had a formula on how to set up a notch to run an X rim...or maybe I saw it in in old MT

i have a hard time explaining stuff.. but ill try....
you take your total diameter of your wheel with tire , lets say its 24" , then you divide that in half 12". take the diameter of your axle , lets say its 3" , then you divide that in half , 1.5" , add that to the 12" (12 + 1.5 = 13.5) so then you get 13.5" , you go from the bottom of your frame up 13.5" , and this would be where your axle top will be ... i usually add another 1" to total height so your not bottoming out on the axles , or add more if your gonna do bigger rims...
you may say , your truck frame is 14" off the ground on jackstands or whatever.. so just add the 14 to the 13.5" .... and etc.....
thats how i do it....

hope that helps some...

thanks bro, i'm gunna have to wait till i can either get into my buddies garage, or wait till spring to measure it, there's like 8" of snow up here where i am and i don't have a shop lol....i'd really suggest coming up to canada just for snow drifting...its the poor man's way to drift, just as much fun, 1/4 of the costs lol...its times like these where i really love living in canada

is there a minimum height that my frame needs to be off the ground when i do this. cause i just did a rough guess and this is what i came up with.

my current setup is 16's with my frame being 3" off the ground. there was 5" from the top of the axle tube to the bottom of the notch. so this is how i figure it. half of 16 is 8, plus the 5" gap between the axle and notch is 13. i double checked this by using the formula, half of 16 is 8, my axle is 4", half of that is 2", plus 3" for how far my frame is, which is again 13"

so if my math is correct(which i doubt i'm right) if i want to run 20's in the rear, its: half of 20" is 10", half of 4" is 2", plus my 3" ride height=15"

if that is right, i will need to make my notch 2" higher, right?

you need to take the total measurement of the wheel with the tires.... not just the rims....

doesnt matter how high the frame is, just add that into the math...

chances are, your notch bottom is gonna be 2.5 - 3" above the frame....

just dont forget to get the total size of rim with the tire..

oh, ok, i thought it was just the rim. thanks again man
