I am looking to shave my doors and nobody can tell me a good kit to buy so. What do you recommend and know it is sturdy

You talking about shaving the handles and key holes?

I know ICE makes filler pannels. Amazing quality, and at an extremely reasonable price.

You can also check places like suicidedoors.com, but I'd stay away from FBI. I have always had issues with their stuff not fitting well.

Well the fillers in going to get them from Suicide but the actual solenoid kits and door poppers

i got a junk door and cut mine out for like 50.00. The top was crushed but the body line was good so one ziz wheel and a few minutes and you have factory filler plates.

I thought of doing that but in the end i said ill just buy them

What solenoid/door popper kit would be a good choice because i really have no idea

I love the autoloc 35lb poppers. I've used them on both my nissan and ranger and never had a problem at all. As long as you mount them right, make sure all your connections are saudered, and have the right amount of tension on the cable to your door (so it doesn't beat the hell out of the latch and pull it off), they will last you a long long time.

autoloc are the best and longest lasting I have ever used. The soleniods in my truck are over 5+years old with no problems.

I've used spal 35 lb kits and autolok kits, both are good strong long lasting kits.

I don't really favor one over the other.

Just like jake said, it's all in the install...and dont try using the door as a ground...it's not a very good one, just run you a new one into the door and the silenoid will work much better.

for door fillers, just go to a pick and pull and get two gas doors

www.grantkustoms.com (http://www.grantkustoms.com) for all your fillers. They're the best fit by far and not too expensive. get the fillers for the handles and the ones for the key holes. and go to www.autoloc.com for your door kit. Id go with like a 30 or 35 lb test.

idk if this has been stated already, but stray away from AIM or chassistech, whichever you wanna call it, their kits are crap i have had nuthin but problems with mine, the price looked great but i paid for what i got, so spend the extra money and go with a dependable and good kit like autoloc
AIMs is jus a cheap rip off of autolocs kits

I had a manual emergency popper wire routed under my hood, so if all else failed then I could just got old school and pull a wire, no electricity involved, you just gotta hide it really really well. I eventually replaced it with a direct connect button straight to the battery, only down side of that is if your battery dies, your ephed

I have used both kits.. i have the autoloc kit in my nissan and the spal kit in my yota. The spal kit is a little more detailed to install but it was the best one to use with suicide doors.

um i bought myself an autoloc kit without the poppers and bought some electric boot poppers from any old ford fairmont at the local pick a part.they work a treat, really strong and easily avalible, should they fail, which they probably wont since ford used for alot of years in a variety of their models.

you have two options:

1) A manual cable that is routed through a hard plastic sleeving to somewhere in the engine bay that you can reach up under the fender to physically pull a cable that will pull the door latch. The most fail proof way since no electricity is involved. Not too safe though because all it takes is one person to see you do it and break in your car no prob.

2) An actual push button that you mount somewhere. Run one fused wire straight off the battery to the button and the other end of it to the popper. Easy as that. When you push the button it gets 12V and pops. I would suggest putting a diode in line between whatever brain is controlling your popper to start with though. It may or may not cause problems but better safe then sorry. Downfall to this is if your battery dies you're still ephed. Kind of same boat as the manual pull string as far as security but you can normally hide the button alot better then the manual cable. I had my button under a locking tonneau cover so if my keychain battery died or whatever, I still had the keys to unlock the tonneau and push the button.

I got ahold of some 45 punders and in the process of installing them. Had them in my old doors but the location I had them they worked great but I had to cut some of my door and lost the use of the inside door latch. I heard they have been installing them under the window and using a pulley system to run the cable over to the pulley and they up to the outside door latch lever? Can someone post some pics where the best place would be? here is where i had mine but again I dont want to loose my inside latches. If I have to then I guess I will.. I was in the process of fiberglassing the door skins anyways .. i will just shave it complete so there is none.. I had them a little lower than the handle rod but the pull was putting the sols on a bind.. Just the angle of the pull.. something that i dont want to do.. I know I can mount them up higher like I said and they work fine but just wanted to see some better ideas..http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=viewImage&friendID=261267094&albumID=1091697&imageID=11689519 http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=viewImage&friendID=261267094&albumID=1091697&imageID=11689519

im a little late on this one, but the SPAL kits are easy as hell to install compared to most others. its pretty much plug and play. the solenoids arent too big either so they are pretty easy to fit just about anywhere. mine are right behind the handle, and the short pull means there is less wire to stretch, so less adjusting later on.

Ok thats right where i have placed mine.. But I drilled another hole in the arm where the inside handle is connected.. Drilled it a bit lower.. I have mine in the same place but the pull is to hard due to the fact that its pulling on the middle of the arm of course.. Haha well it was a try. So I take it that you connected yours to the same hole that the arm for the handle connects?

i drilled a new hole in the arm. do you see the 3 small holes on the left side of the picture. yeah, took 3 tries to get the bit in the right spot, but mine works flawlessly now.

the doors arent too heavy and the latches are pretty easy. 35-40lb is plenty. the bigger you go, the larger the solenoid gets and youll run into mounting issues.

ive had my autoloc alarm for 4-5 yrs no problems. the kit i got had 15 lb solenoids, also havent had a problem with them. my pass side i've had to replace since i dont use it as much it seizes, but a 45 lb would do the same
