I'd love to do one of the power moon roof kits, or a nice sliding rag...but I hear horror stories of how they always leak.

what about the head liner...do U just cut same hole in it....does the seal go over both.....sorry for all the ???? I just dont want to fuck this up

$krap_IN_flesh
09-29-2008, 08:29 PM
with yota I had cut the hole into the interior and had to cut the rods down so they would still hold up. nissan doesn't have a headliner in it since I keep changing my mind on what I am goin to use in it

i have a sunroof from a mazda(i think) and i have had no leaks for 2 years. just uses urithane under the metal part that sandwitches the roof.
i wanted to use a stock hb sunroof, but nissan uses drip lines to divert water rather than sealing it compleatly.

Anyone know of a sun/moonroof that slides up and out when opened? I want an electric one, but us single cabs dont have enough room to put it under the head liner lol.

dwnshfter
10-07-2008, 05:05 AM
those are called spoiler sunroofs, they are aftermarket. just go to any shop that installs sunroofs and they will sell you one. look on ebay once you get a name brand....

wat size sunroof/rag top would u guys go with on an x-cab? could u go wide enuff to shave the roof gutters with it? did u reinforce the roof?

sparkinframe
11-02-2008, 11:46 PM
no need to reenforce the roof. the sun roof frame takes care of that.

however there is some _--_ shaped reenforcements that need to be cut.

Ok cool.. The reason I asked is because it looks to fit the contour of the top pretty well.. Thanks! :dathumb:

Damn I forgot about this thread. Does anyone know of a "spoiler sunroof" that is manual? Im more worried about weight than most people, but dont want to lose my sunroof for smoke venting.

im useing a sunroof from a mazda car (forget the model, didnt realy care at the time)
just go to a junk yard, and find one. i think most rooves are about the same contour.

for those of you that have a sun roof how big is it? i was looking at some but they all seem kinda large to fit. found one thats 18x30 and one thats 15x 30. 30 seems kinda wide to me in a single cab hb. opinions????

$krap_IN_flesh

actually what we usually call sunroofs are actually moon roofs a true sunroof doesn't open, slide or popout at all just a stationary piece of glass. and mine is removable 2

That's what I have.... but it's leaked from day one. I hate it, because water seems to sit in between the gasket.

I'm looking to get the electric one later. It has gutters and a drain line.

I've known 2 guys with sliding rag tops, both had leak problems altho one was small and the other was huge. the dew that would form at night would find it's way in. not cool!!
