On my frontier behind the door panel there is a black metal panel that doesn't really serve any purpose, so I just bolted mine to that plate on the inside.

i did an install on a hardbody, i put it on the backside of the panel. between the metal and th eglass
make sure you get a small enuff solenoid so that it fits between the inner door and glass, im using the older spal kit, the only difference from the new ones is the internal relays on the brain. solenoids still look the same.

WHAAAAT!!!, the new spal kit has internal relays? does that mean you only have to give it a 12V source, ground, and hook up the power wire to the solenoid? instead of have 3 or 4 of those 5 prong individual square relays?

i have the spal kit, it was really easy, mine are midway up the door where there's more space between the window and the panel.
and my solenoids dont have relays, just 12v and ground

mine are about halfway along the length of the door and about speaker height.facing vertically.
solinoids have a inner and outter cable similar to a handbrake.
then i have a small bracket that holds the end about where the screw comes through for bolting the pull handle on so its then facing inline with the interior door handle rod.
