ok so i pretty much no what to do.. but i asked this question on nissancustoms and didnt get a very good answer.

is it possible to do the swap and still run leaves? do you have to move the spring perches on the diff or what?

also i remember something about the yota diff being shorter.. does that affect your alignment? a friend told me that having a shorter diff affects your chances of getting a wheel alignment

also.. lol
he said to get blank hubs and axles and shit and just get them redrilled. would that be a smarter option? more expensive?

You can have the stock axles redrilled. The Toyota pattern is smaller than the 6 lug pattern.

If you want to run the Toyota axle with leafs, just cut off the leaf spring perches and weld on some new ones at the correct width. An make sure to set the pinion angle correctly.

The differential has nothing to do with alignment.

I don't know on the Nissans, but here is the measurements for Toyota by year:

Axle width:

73-78 ~ 53"
79-83 ~ 55"
84-88 ~ 57"
89-95 ~ 58.5"
95-04 ~ 60"

hey twisted, since you are the pretty much guru for toyotas, how much power will rear axle hold with stock internals, and what not cuz i have my hands on a five lug swap, but im puttin a 302 with a mild build on it in my hb, and i havent found a 9in narrow enough, and dont wanna shell out the money to narrow one if i dont have too

300 easily. If you find a V6 axle they can handle 400 safely. you can push them farther too really if you're easy on them. But you can beat on them real good with that kind of power and be fine. I have a '93 V6 axle, not sure how far you are from me though.

maybe i will wait till im bagging my truck to do the 5 lug swap. the 1uzfe swap is coming first. and its gonna take a while to find a v6 toyota diff here in australia lol did any of the toyota diffs come with disk brakes?

1uz..... nice.

yea good luck with the v6 diff.

a few of the boys over here have done plenty of 1uz swaps into hiluxs and still use the stock 4cyl petrol or diesel diffs and they hold up fine.

not sure what sorta power a stock 1uz is putting out tho.

I have family outside of Denver I visit sometimes. Usually fly though.

Toyota trucks never came with rear discs (the brand new ones might).
