This is the way I see it. What are your intentions for the truck? If your going to drive it, and want it low then your basic torsion drop, blocks, and what not would work fine. If your looking for handling you could go as far as 4 linked rear, coil overs all around, and more. But the way it usually works is low just is not low enough, and you'll want it even lower. Bags will give you better ride if done right, better handling, and the adjustments that can't be beat by any other types of suspensions. I can't see building a static truck so low that its basically worthless on other then a flat world, and that's just not thinking logically. This might be an opinionated post, But I am just not a fan of the static trucks that are so low they get stuck on speed bumps, when an air ride truck could just air up back to stock ride height or higher and easily clear any type of road condition or anything that might cause damage to your truck.
So as a whole, its all up in the air with what YOU want for your truck. You have the control to make your truck anything you want it to be.

My buddy had a static dropt nissan that the frame sat like 2" from the ground he used to get stuck on speed bumps and have to call his dad to bring the tow truck out to pull him off of them.

If you do go that low might be a good idea to put some air shocks on with an onboard compressor so if you do get stuck you could air up the shocks to get free.

i have a static dropped '87. it has drop spindles, cranked torsions, redrilled hangers, lowering shackles, 2 leaf lowering leafs, 1" lowering blocks, and a c-notch. the shocks in the rear are huge full length shocks because it has a bridge made out of 2" square tubing and the upper shock mounts are on top of the rear bridge bar. it handles like its on rails. but i want it bagged. its going to be bagged in a couple months, maybe even body dropped. its like everyone says, low is just not low enough.
if you just want a good solid daily driver that you can drive hard and fast while working on something else, static drop it, its cheaper and you'll get what you want out of it. but if its your only vehicle, and you wanna go low for a custom looks, bags will eventually end up there anyway, so might as well save the money and do it the first time.
