96' Hardbody

I've got a bug that won't go away! One side of my brain tells me to Bag it & the Other says Lift it.... :dunno:. Everytime I look at my truck I tell myself that this one is to Clean to cut up(still an Unfair statement). I've got some 18" Eskies that are Bored already & would hate to see them go just b/c I would Lift my truck.

I believe its becoming more Popular these days to have big wheels & big Tires! Basically was Wondering if anyones got info On 18" Tires or Pics are welcome!

building a capable mudder and building a capable daily driver mini are comparable in price. installing a lift kit is usually easier and faster than installing bags and a 4 link is. good rims and tires are comparable between both. with a mudder you can leave the body stock and not really have to worry about it. no point in shaving everything and making the body perfect if you're just going to beat on it on the trails.

what it comes down to, is, if you do a mudder, how do you plan to use it, go wheelin for a bit everyday, or just a weekend warrior. theres still the easy way then the right way.

easy way: throw on a lift kit, big tires and a little engine performance to handle the 2. down fal to that is you can easily go through a lot of U-joints, steering links, axle shafts, pinion gears, and even tranny gears.

right way: get stronger axle shafts, heavy duty steering links and ball joints, U-joints, and a tougher tranny. which is where you run into big money.

thats how i worked it out when i built my old s-10. i was gunna lift it, convert to 4x4, and take it wheelin, i personally think that in the long run, building a mini is a little less complicated, somewhat less cost, and a lot easier on gas and major components.

i mistly decided all this because i don't have a garage. i still found it easier to build my HB in my driveway then it would for me to build a mudder...just my opinion

Well, My idea is Raising it a little bit 2-3" just body Lift maybe w/those 18" w/Mud Tires. SHAVED COMPLETELY! I've already got everything to shave it so it would be sad to see all that go to just b/c I would lift it.

This will be cheaper than bagging it as It would not be set-up for mudding (its just 2X2) & this trucks only got 64,000 Miles the body is in mint condition! Its the base model No A/C, Power Steering etc. so it should be able to handle the extra wheel, tire weight.

I've always been the one to "Lower" or "Bag" but really have'nt done any "Lifting" Hell its worth a shot. (unlike bags...Its Reversable) You definately won't see a Brush guard, So many lights on it looks like Heaven, or a gun in the back window...lol Just a Clean smooth shaved Lifted Hardbody on Wheels I know you guys could be open for something along those lines. But some are'nt willing to try new things I guess.

have you priced out the tires? i think BFG AT's for 18s are over $200 each. let alone some nittos or something.

i say go for it. not sure how the eskies would look tho. not sure if they would fit the look.

Looking at some TOYO MT 33" Not sure about the Price but I'm expecting they won't be Cheap. They would be bad though!!

if you're lifting it more for a look and less about mudding capability, then give 'er. i'm not opposed to change or being different, i was just thorwing down my two cents. i think a fully shaved lifted HB would look pretty sick. i agree with ScottXGTR, i don't think 18" eskies would fit the look of a lifted truck

Just did'nt want to spend anymore $$ buying wheels when I have some here ya know. as the old saying goes don't judge a book by its cover...lol Theres only 1 way to get to the bottom of this! I'm gonna make it happen! I think after its all done up you may second that opinion though :thumb:
