i am a professionally trined painter(wyotech) and its really all about personal preference to the painter. i prefer the devilbiss gti i love the gun because i paint fast and it lays it down. that is because it has a larger tip and needle i belive 1.4mm. but the iwatas are good guns also im pretty sure they come with 1.3mm, so are satas. so in closing its all about how you paint, if you like to make quick passes go devilbiss, if you like slower passes go with a smaller tipped gun like the iwata, or even sata. also another good thing about the devilbiss gti is that you can put a large variety of paints trough it. now i know your supposed to have a primer gun for high build surfacers but not everyone painting in their garage with plastic sheeting and box fans has the equipment and money a body shop has. you can shoot primer surfacers through the gti, just reduce it slightly more and clean the gun IMMEDIATELY after or your gonna have a mess to deal with. then you can use the same gun for base coat. and you can shoot clear through it, i would recommend getting a lp (low pressure) gun for your clear, the gti likes to lay clear on too heavy and causes runs and sags. thats my opinion and my experinces with the devillbiss gti. hope it helps

i love my finishline 3. at work my painters swear by satas. personally i think theyre not worth the money. 90% of the finish is the painter, not the gun

I prefer the LPH 400 Iwata's...they also come with 1.3, 1.4's and so on. Im sure you know this already but usually the 1.3's are for your bases, they also have a air cap designed for bases. 1.4's for you higher solids like clear and primer.

SATA that is the ONLY gun I will spray my clears with, devilbiss makes a great gun as welll as iwata but i swear by my old satas' never had an ounce of trouble with any of them my base guns are also a sata and a sharpe, my primer guns are craftsmen, the sears gun does work really well for a $100 gun and i have sprayed alot of single stage paint jobs for friends with decent results too, but the final call is always user preference, what works great for me may not work worth a shit to you so you gotta find and try as many guns as you can in order to make a good sound choice.

the devilbiss gti plus is a great all around gun b/c it comes with three tips in the kit, the sata's are great guns imo, i own a gti plus, two nr2000 blue rings, three 3000 green rings, and a matco hvlp. it's really your choice on which gun your comfortable with.

I run a sata rp 3000 and a iwata lph 400.. depending on the conditions i change guns every so often.. usually use iwata to spray sealer and base and finish it off with sata.. but it does all boil down to preference....
