97 HB 2.4ltr 2wd Auto
Has an aftermarket steering wheel in it and the airbag light on the dash flashing all the time has been driving me nuts. Today when I got back to work I pulled the truck over in the shade and decided to pull the light. Took out the cluster while the truck was running and proceeded to remove the air bag light. I took out the bulb and 2 wires running to it being very careful to make sure since the truck was on not to touch anything as I didn't have any spare fuses. Get everything out put it back together with no problems. Turn off the truck to go in and wait for my check happy that I don't have to see that light anymore. Go back out about an hour later and the truck won't crank. Everything works fine except the ABS, SES, and brake light that are usually on on the dash are not on and the truck won't start. I checked all the fuses and they're all fine. Pulled the cluster back out to make sure everything is okay back there and put the air bag light back in just in case there's some safety deal and it has to be in there. Get it all back together, double check the fuses again, still fine, but still won't crank. Got power at the starter and the starter relay clicks like normal but still nothing. The guy at the Checker down the store thinks the starter solenoid coincidentally went out and that I should pull it and have them check it. It's still under warranty with them so he knows if it's bad he's not gonna be selling another one so I don't think he's trying to pull anything. I can't go pull it until the morning so I figured I would see it anyone here has any ideas about what else could be the problem or what else I should check.
