Can anyone tell me the life expectancy of the supercharger on a 3.3L Frontier. For some reason I remember reading that they live to 100k then shit the bed and need to be rebuilt/replaced. Does this ring any bells for Frontier owners? Or does the S/C last longer/forever before getting tired? I have 3 months to shop around before I get rid of my 96 and I am centered on a Fronty or a Taco as a DD. No plans to mod whatever I end up getting at all, will remain stock. I see a lot of S/C Fronty's for sale and all seem to have 100k on them, coincidence?

100k is what I read also. My 46000k truck would loose it balls as soon as it heated up. My guess is that as it got hot, the fins on the turbine would shrink and it wouldn't maintain boost.
Also the knock sensor sucks, throwing the truck in no boost mode all of the time.
And it'll need a timing set at 100k
All in all, I had mine for 6 months, traded it on a blown Ford, and couldn't be happier.

Kaoss hit the nail on the head. Most people who have them are unimpressed with the performance and poor gas mileage of the supercharged version. Once they hit 100k and realize the dealer wants 500+ to change the timing belt, they ditch the truck for something else.
Id recommend the non supercharged version

That's what I was thinking after doing a bunch of reading up on the topic. I am pretty handy guy when it comes to fixing things but I'd rather not deal with the headaches. It's too bad though because the trucks are nice inside and out and are selling for pennies.

Yeah, the 13mpg sucks for a truck that goes 0-60 in 3 days.
Here is a link to my old one. It was a damn nice truck with only 43000 miles on it. Dealer wants 12,950 for it.

A boosted KA would be more fun in an extended cab.

Yeh, I am just seeing what's out there. I don't have to pull any triggers until May-ish. I thought an S/C Fronty would be cool. I want a 4dr crew cab with the long bed. If I can get it IN 5spd I'll be all the happier.

The crew cabs are like having an extended cab full size.
