I know its been gone over numerous times that 8" wheel needs +30 and 8.5 needs +40 but my question is, is this only bagged or is this the same for static drop as well? right now im running 16x8 with 0 offest and the tire rubs the fender. ill soon be getting 20x8.5 with +38 and im wondering if i still need the big offset for the fender to sit over the wheels just a tad with no rub issuse. thanks

If you're static dropped enough that the fender could come in contact with the tires at some point, the tucking rules would be about the same.
The only difference would be the guys whose wheels camber in when airing out. This would allow a wider rim to tuck on its way down.

Have you flared the bedsides?
Also you can trim the fender and bedside lips
