Has anyone here got an aftermarket head unit? If so what type, and do you have any pics? I just got a 2007 Frontier XE.

Im in a dilema, I want to keep the "stock" looking style of my interior and audio system, however I have the truck with no auxillary inputs and would MUCH prefer to use my Ipod for my music, instead of CD's.

I read that the fm modulators for adding a aux input have very bad sound quality. I have just begun looking for a head unit and am not sure what out there has a "stock" look. By stock look I mean, follows the yellow/orangish color scheme that our panels have...

I am going to put in my subs and I know how much easier it is to simply buy a headunit for the RCA's, but I have no problem using a line out converter to get the RCA's required for the amp...

Any suggestions on a H/U or whether or not you think it is worth it?

most head units are going to be blueish, greenish or whiteish on the display. you can get a double din screened unit and you can change the background on them to mimic the orange interior colors.

other than that, not much out there that looks stockish. most double din units are going to have a screen and tons of features. jvc and clarion make a few that are more basic though.

Is it possible to have two head units? Maybe use a relay for the power wire and splice into the ground to share it? Using RCAs to connect the two signals? I found a cassette head unit very cheap and it has a AUX input that is very basic looking.

I have a cheaper Pioneer touchscreen dvd double din. Its illumination is blue but I changed my instrument cluster from amber to blue to match.

sounds over engineered to me. im sure it can be done, but better results can be had if you KISS.

Keep It Simple Stupid

to elaborate on your idea, id leave the factory unit in place with power on but just for looks, a dummy unit if you will. then have an aftermarket radio installed in a stealth manner, like people do in classic cars that dont accept modern din units. use that unit for your source outputs and you get the added flexibility you want without having to stare at it all day. it may be harder to navigate, but there will always be a sacrifice.

in the end, id still suggest looking into a double din unit such as:

those units arent terribly flashy and the colors on some arent overpowering. id suggest looking at them in person at your local audio shop, then shopping around to find a better price. crutchfield is known for having the best service, but definitely not the lowest price.

The first one definately looks the most stock to me. But I don't any of those will really look to bad with a stock scheme.
