Are these two bars them? Do you just screw in the bolts to lower the front?

no its the bars on the other side, look under your doors on the inside of your frame for the adjusters

those are the tension rods. you dont mess with those.
the torsion bars connect to the lower control arm and run backwards. they are about 3 feet long. they end about midway on the door. you should see the torsion key mounted on the end of them, with an adjuster bolt and 2 nuts. thats where you need to loosen.

I already bought the cando arms, but does the design really prove worthy of you discarding the tension rods? Scotty? Anyone else?

yes, with a aftermarket A arm you can eliminate the tension rod.
basically, in an A-arm, the location of the ball joint is triangulated, giving it rigidity.
the stock arms are not rigid, they have some play front to back. the tension rod eliminates this movement by triangulating the arm.

just to clarify, he cut them off, after installing the A-arms.
doing so on the stock arms is a bad idea.

so to raise it back up i tighten them or loosen them? how do you know when both sides are even?

loosen = lower
tighten = lift
you know they are even by taking measurements before and after you adjust the torsion bars. (be sure to do this on level ground). you can count how many turns you loosen them and do equal numbers on both sides.
they tend to settle a little more after you drive around the block tho.

one more question, how far tightened is where they would be at stock height?

AllData says the front fender edge is 1" lower than the rear fender edge at correct ride height.
The Factory Service Manual says the vertical distance between the inner pivot of the lower control arm to the bottom of the tension rod attaching bolt should be approximately 4.5"

i just did mine yesterday on my 720
under the cab you'll see the 2 torsion bars mounts. ( to the L and R side of the transmission output shaft inside the frame rails)
on the top of the adjustment screw, there was a 17MM and a 19MM nut, loosen them up and run them up the rod to allow the rod to move downwards.
ran down till there was no tension on them anymore.
took the bumpstops out of the truck, and it sits nice and low now :):):)
