Hey all.
I figure since things are happening now, I may as well post some pics. This will be a slow build as its my daily, while I'm laying out my 92 Civic.
Its an 89 Dual Cab, and for those of you who don't know, I'm from Queensland, Australia.

I picked it up dirt cheap, and sold off the canopy, nudgebar, towbar, and 4wd wheels/tyres, and made a decent profit! :nana2:
It looked like this-

http://i584.photobucket.com/albums/ss282/Ill5lamyou/f8ff95ed.jpg

I picked up a set of Holden Rodeo 16" alloys for $50, painted them gloss black, and threw on some tyres. Also brought it down around 5 1/2"!

New wheels, but before lowering :rofl2:
http://i584.photobucket.com/albums/ss282/Ill5lamyou/d44a2d00.jpg

I also extended the shifter, and added a Budweiser beer tap handle.
http://i584.photobucket.com/albums/ss282/Ill5lamyou/84c2bbcd.jpg

Scored a pair of all-clear taillights.
http://i584.photobucket.com/albums/ss282/Ill5lamyou/c0d9566d.jpg

And this is what I'm working on now. Trying to get something done before a show this weekend!!
Hilux Surf 4wd Bumper. Shaved indicators and centre grille, welded up (1 piece), and will have Land Rover Defender indicators frenched into it.
http://i584.photobucket.com/albums/ss282/Ill5lamyou/1359ab21.jpg

I have a pathfinder grille and headlights to go on, so I'm shaving the corners to complete the flush look. I didn't want to swap to the later panels, so I used a pair of donor guards to continue the bodyline to the front, then capped it with the top edge of the donor guard also.
http://i584.photobucket.com/albums/ss282/Ill5lamyou/375d509c.jpg
Old piece cut out (left) and new piece on the right.
http://i584.photobucket.com/albums/ss282/Ill5lamyou/beeb6de6.jpg
All tacked in place
http://i584.photobucket.com/albums/ss282/Ill5lamyou/1be300a2.jpg

Got 2 nights left to finish the front end before the show. Fingers crossed!

ebay is your friend ;) :thumb:

Got the corners ground back and smoothed tonight, and the bumper is all welded and ground too. Got the buckets welded up and frenched into the bar for the indicators.
Should get some filler on tomorrow and get it primed. I'll get some pics up tomorrow.

Well got most of it back together, just in time for the show. Couldn't get the Pathfinder headlights mounted though, as I'm missing the brackets for them. Hopefully I can get some and get them on next week.

Corners are done

And back in one piece, with Land Rover Defender indicators.

I still have a bit of work to do on both the corners getting them 100% straight, and the bar needs a filler piece to close up the gap between the top and the grille. I really don't like the early grilles, so I'm hoping the Pathy front will finish it off and make it look better.

i think closing the gap and pathy grill is gonna make it look good

Yep, the Pathy front is just what it needs!! That looks sweet! I'm going to run the later bonnet though that comes down further.
I like the idea of the phantom grille too, but where I live I'd be getting pulled over on a daily basis for something so obvious.

Scored a set of 18's off a JDM Mitsubishi Pajero. Not sure whether to go gloss black with a red stripe on the lip, or leave the lip bare, and paint the centre.
I'm leaning more towards all black with stripe though. What do you guys reckon?

if yoiu change bonnets you have to change gaurds

Why's that? The angle of the front part?

tis10w
11-11-2010, 05:00 AM
yes becase of the bonnet being longer and the gaurds being set up for a short bonnet

5LAM
11-11-2010, 09:06 AM
Sweet, that won't be hard to mod.
I don't want to change to the later guards

tis10w
11-11-2010, 12:57 PM
why do you want the longer bonnet is there a reson

5LAM
11-11-2010, 08:49 PM
I want to run Pathfinder lights and grille. There will be a big gap between the grille and bonnet if I don't

change the mounting points for the grill slips and run the early model light brakets

I doubt that will work, but see what happens.

Got my Pajero's painted up, and added a red pinstripe. Stoked with how they turned out. :nana2:
I'll get a pic up tomorrow of them on the truck.

Okay, scored a 92 Surf bar. Turned out being a real pain in the ass to get it to fit right, as the mounts on the bar were narrower than the 91, so I had to modify my brackets again.
Pie cut the corners to bring them in closer to the 2wd guards.

Bar on
http://i584.photobucket.com/albums/ss282/Ill5lamyou/ab602ac5.jpg
And voila! Primered, assembled, and indicators wired up. I think it looks much better.
http://i584.photobucket.com/albums/ss282/Ill5lamyou/3b6e4a80.jpg

Also ordered a rollpan, so hopefully I can start on the rear end over the christmas hols.

Cop attention? I haven't really done much to it to warrant cop attention.
I decided I wanted something newer so I bought this.
