i have a 1985 nissan 720, and changed the camshaft to a 274 grind duration. data card that came with it says to set timing to advance to 30deg. i only got it set to 20deg. but wont turn anymore, what do i have to do to get it right at 30deg? also at what rpm should i set it to, while doing the adjustment?

Base timing to 30° or TOTAL timing to 30°? Total I could see, not base.

yeah, you'll want to see how much advance you get under WOT. some distributors have centrifugal and vacuum assisted advance mechanisms. you may start with 10deg at idle, but get 20 degrees of total advance when you rev.
be really careful of too much advance- you will begin to detonate and blow your engine up! if you hear the 'bb's in a soda can' noise, you are detonating and need to retard your ignition timing.
