I know people section metal tanks all the time. I was wondering if there is a way to section a plastic tank. Is there a shop or company out there that can modify a plastic tank? I might try some plastic welding, but do not even know the first thing about doing it.
My problem is my tank is even with the bottom of frame rail and when full the middle actually sags 1/2" below rail lol (normal). I want to section 1 1/2" inches out of it for clearance. I want to keep the stock location of tank to keep bed clean. If I put a skid plate under tank the plate will just get hot and melt it. Anybody have any Ideas?

thwere is a plastic tank repare kit made. may be you could use that to glue is back together?
short answer is yes u can section a plastic tank. but its alot harder to get to seal. if its only 1/2" too low i bet u could just raise is up.

I am gonna attempt to move it up, but if I can't get it high enough to where I feel safe and comfortable I want to try and section it. I want it an 1" of the ground at least, then I will put a sheild on it that will not drag but provide protection.
from what ive seen....most of the time u can raise a tank about 2" on average

I just went and looked at the space I've got, and unfortunately the tank is very close to the cab floor. I would have to raise the driver's side rear of the cab floor to move it up. Alec did this with his titan. I am definitely gonna try to section this tank. I am not ready to cut the cab floor yet.

just remembered that nissan's plastic tanks have a thin layer of metal in-bedded in the plastic. I know the murano does, so I can only assume the frontier's tank is similar. That will make plastic welding impossible I would think.
