I've never done this, but I have been thinking about doing it, but wanted to get advice and opions before beginning.

I still have the factory smog equipment on my 95 hardbody (KA24E eggine, 5spd, power steering). Mississippi does not check for smog so im not worried there. Is there a down side otherwise to this and what would I need to do.

Im proud of the fact that I have a 95 hardbody with over 300k miles on it and the CHECK ENGINE light isnt on. I keep it tuned and in good working order, and I have corrected any issues that pop up when the light did come on. Will removing the smog trip the ECM?

Well heres (http://www.infamousnissan.com/forum/showthread.php?t=644) my build thread on the truck. I've done quite a bit to the engine. Pretty damn near a complete rebuild, but not quite.

A question like this always raises lots of opinions and heated debate.

On the other hand, some of us have to breathe that air out there.

My opinion: Please don't remove the smog equipment. Almost ALL of the devices do not hurt your performance, yet increase fuel economy.

If all of us do our part to help the environment, the (global) environment will be a better place. If we are all a bunch of "it's just one vehicle," we are all doing our part to damage the environment.

I ain't no tree hugger, but I had to quit a job I loved and move away because I couldn't breathe the air and I got tired of the constant lung infections and chest pain and medication and side-effects and all that crap. Lost a relationship because of it too. I'm a bit passionate about air quality.

from what I have heard it is hit or misss...some say nonthing has happened and others say there truck ran like shit.....I say if U R going to do it just start the truck and start pulling lines and see what happens....plug everything U pull and if U cant tell just drive it around the block and U should be able to see how it runs ....other then that good luck

personally for me I think global warming aka climate change or whatever the fuck they are calling it this week is "man made" bullshit.
Besides, once you yank all that shit your just a step closer to laying it on the ground. Most of that stuff is connected by vacuum hoses. You can by pass most of it and cap of others, making it possible to ditch the bs under your hood.
Yes, it can be removed without the check engine light coming on. You can reference pics in my built thread as well if you would like, it's in the HoH forum.

ive done it on 2 ka24e's and one ka24de and all ran great afterward. but there are a few things that i have kept. first is the scv and charcol canister, i did this because it helps idle when hot and the charcol canister i kept because if u just pull it and block the line comming from the tank it will build up a shit load of pressure in the tank,.

so the stuff u are lookin to take off the egr valve behind the throttle body and the pipe that goes behind the motor to the header and what else what about the stuff mounted to the driver fender

It's all that junk on the drivers fender that need to go, I'm pretty certain the EGR valve stays. Part of my issue is that most of the bolts holding like the "pancake canister" are either missing or busted. Same for the line connected to this canister. Is being held in place by one bolt , and that bolt isnt even the right size, so the hose is just hanging on the side. I have headers ordered and I figured I might as well get that crap outta the way to give me even more room to change out the headers.

u can get rid of everything and it dont really matter, i used to have everything off my truck for a while but i was getting like 18mpg, so i put those 2 things back on and now i get like 21-22 and thats me beating its ass everytime i drive it,. but id probly say leave the gas tank vent tube open, i dont really see u having a fire issue with that unless its really hot out u build up alot of gas fumes under the hood and ur car sits in the garage then u start it up and an arc somewhere ignigts the fumes and it goes boom.,but dont really see that happening.
