09-15-2010, 06:57 PM
whatsup everyone. well 2 nights ago i got tired of talking about bodydropping my truck and never doing it. so i walked out to the shop around 12:30 with a buddy and started taking it apart. night one i got everything pulled that i needed to have pulled. night 2(last night) i got the floor cut out with a little help from jimmy726 its now laying on the rockers, still have to Z the front. i will have more pics up soon. i took this one at 8 this morning when i was going to bed.
damn you ice for not telling us just how much of a pain this is!
sorry for crappy phone pic.. thanks for riding out jimmy! hope beavers welds hold!!

09-15-2010, 08:19 PM
good job.... i usually Z the front first , before the cab... but no biggie...
and yeah... its a pain and time , thats why it cost so much to do ...

09-15-2010, 08:50 PM
thats a shitty pic and dam i wish i were there to see the mf fall. Good job now just get to make fillers and set everything up for 20s man its easier now then it is later

09-15-2010, 09:11 PM
Its all the little odds and ends that make it so time consuming. But well worth it!
Good luck with it, keep the pics coming!

09-15-2010, 11:32 PM
Very nice!!!! And if you think body dropping one is hard work on a stockfloored one with a chevy motor lol lots of little things to !

09-16-2010, 01:48 AM
Yea the cab is the easy part its all the little things that take the time.

09-16-2010, 01:55 AM
dont worry, man
it won't be that hard

just remember to stock up on jb weld, bubble yum for the joints and lots and lots of seam sealer and bondo to hide everything

just kidding dont take me seriously

09-16-2010, 02:44 AM
lol yeah i was lookin for the jk on that one kmanuel! lol! and yeah i will get better pics soon. i been gone all day today. gonna try and have the front Z'd 2moro and start remounting the strut rods. slamfest is getn here a little 2 fast. and thanks for all the positive energy guys!!

09-17-2010, 12:18 AM
definately looks good quick question when you did the floor did you angle the fillers or run them straight up and down?

09-17-2010, 08:34 AM
right now they are strait up and down. i havent started welding all that back up yet. im gonna angle them fer sure tho. its much easier to do ur carpet that way.

09-17-2010, 08:35 AM
well i got the front end Z'd and welded out and sprayed everything black. i will get pics of my progress up 2moro. shop is too dark to take pics in with my ghey camera.

09-18-2010, 10:59 PM

09-21-2010, 11:34 PM
You can fit the york in that spot body dropped. Im doored with mine in the same spot i had to drop the motor a little but i still have a stock hood. My bracket is alot closer to the distributor.

09-22-2010, 12:42 AM
sweet hardbody

09-22-2010, 12:47 AM
need help maybe i can help

09-22-2010, 04:24 AM
hmm. how hard is it to drop the motor? becuase my york is relle close to the distributor.

09-24-2010, 06:00 PM
ok heres a couple pics i just took. worked till 3 this morning on it.. got the cowl partially shaved.

09-24-2010, 06:03 PM

09-24-2010, 06:26 PM

09-24-2010, 06:48 PM
do you have pictures of the bracket for the York? maybe a template?

09-24-2010, 08:50 PM
looks good mighty

09-24-2010, 09:15 PM
thanks jimmy. and you just want a picture of my york bracket?

09-24-2010, 11:01 PM
ok, current list o chit 2 due..
-shifter is hitting my screen and not allowing me to go into 1st, 3rd, or 5th. lol! ill have to pull the shifter and bend it back a little more..
-york is preventing me from mounting my hood! idk wtf there.
-gotta move harness thats laying on top of my passenger front tire..
-bd the bed.
ill go hoodless and bedless to slamfest if i gotta altho i REALLY REALLY dont wanna go bedless. everybodies :2: is gladly accepted..

09-25-2010, 12:32 AM
I cant really tell how low your york is here is a picture of mine its about even with the valve cover
Here is a picture from underneath the bracket almost touches my plug wires If i need to change wires i have to take off the edc.

09-25-2010, 12:33 AM
dude your bed is simple you already have it framed out just cut the original mounts off, and make supports like whats on my bed. And you need to remake your edc bracket dont go to slamfest half ass dude

09-25-2010, 12:34 AM
Id also mount that air filter down or toward the back. Maybe just take it off while you are mocking stuff up you can always make that work easy. The hard part is making the comp fit.

09-25-2010, 12:38 AM
well if you look he has a giant filter which he needs to switch for a smaller one

09-25-2010, 12:40 AM
they got a skinnier filter? ill have to pull a recon mission at work :ninja:
and imma look at my edc bracket tonight. yeah i imagine the bed will be pretty simple. but sofar this has been a solo project. beds a bit heavy!
thanks alot for the pics of ur edc bracket man. imma go look and see in a little while at what can be done there. what are yu talking about "sliding the filter back"?

09-25-2010, 12:58 AM
It looks like your air filter on the edc sticks up really high and to the front its hard to tell from pictures but that could be holding the hood up. Id take it off and see how close the hood is to fitting and go from there.

09-25-2010, 12:59 AM
Im running the filter that you have on your valve cover never had a problem with it.

09-25-2010, 01:01 AM
well looking across my fender tops.. the filter looks a little higher than the tops of my fenders. didnt u say u dropped ur motor somehow tho??

09-25-2010, 01:02 AM
yeah, i was defidently gonna pull that edc filter off too! it is high

09-25-2010, 01:52 AM
Here are my motor mounts i welded axle tabs to the frame. I sectioned my oil pan but I was trying to fit a stock hood on a 5" body drop. If you drop the motor you shouldnt need to section the oil pan.

09-25-2010, 01:54 AM
ohh ok. nice mounts!

09-25-2010, 06:09 AM
ok, i just finished moving my edc down. it sits like a quarter inch above my distributor now. i cut and rewelded the bracket. then applied a little black paint. my hood is back on and workn like a charm.i ran all my wires under the hood neatly along the fenders so they wont touch the tires any more when layed out. plugged up my battery and started er up :)

09-25-2010, 06:09 AM
sorry thats a crappy phone pic. but im going to bed!

09-25-2010, 08:05 AM
Sweet I knew it would fit

09-26-2010, 09:27 AM
well i got the bed and tanneau mounted back 2night. lowering the bed was cake. still in search of a front bumper!! may have 2 swap back to the yota front end for slamfest...
sorry this is a cellphone pic and its 4am im is tired!!!

09-26-2010, 12:54 PM
hell yeah mighty you officially bd your truck in like 2 weeks lol

09-26-2010, 03:15 PM
:) thanks jimbo! yeah its defidently not been easy. been strait busting my ass!!

09-26-2010, 03:21 PM
i think you should work a lil more on your truck and a lil less on this scavenger hunt haha. j/k man, good luck.

09-26-2010, 04:16 PM

09-26-2010, 04:33 PM

09-26-2010, 08:32 PM

09-26-2010, 10:24 PM

*update- just finished mounting my strut rods back on. they are now located behind the core support. a little idea i picked up from ICE. thanks! lol

09-27-2010, 01:10 AM

09-27-2010, 01:14 AM

09-27-2010, 01:46 AM
Damn, you guys got me wanting to BD my truck really bad now, I used to say I'm never gonna body drop mine, but after seeing the frame gap for the last few months has been driving me nuts, possibly over next summer, I may have to buy a bunch of beer and pizza and have joe and duey come to my shop for a few weekends.

09-27-2010, 02:28 AM
hell yeah. its defidently some fkn work! it didnt even take me 2 weeks. but i was workin on this mofo everyday and night just about..

09-27-2010, 02:59 AM

11-15-2010, 07:10 AM

11-16-2010, 03:54 AM
i just want the stock one piece. black or chrome, idc. but im in search of cheap frontier parts and an xterra hood. gonna copy green97nissan ;)
i really like that front end! so imma just keep mine the way it is unless i come across a cheap ass front bumper. then itll be a complete facelift once i get frontier pieces together. got my moog bushings put in today. LOTS better! lol ill post pics tomorrow. be prepared to laugh at the bushings that were in my truck

11-16-2010, 04:27 AM
Those are a waste triangulate ur lowers u will just wear those out and it will be a waste of money.

11-16-2010, 06:20 AM
i agree i have two four link arms with fixed ends im going to bend and weld in

11-16-2010, 11:46 PM
idk that i would call it a waste. they are functional. and they do the job. i aligned my truck today at work. everything is where it needs to be. yes i agree with everyone else that triangulated lowers look better. but i done this drop by myself in two weeks. so i have no complaints. one day i may triangulate the lowers.

11-17-2010, 12:09 AM
word i feel ya as far as bumpers the best one i have is a black one

11-17-2010, 12:10 AM
oh where you located?

11-17-2010, 03:04 AM
The reason I said it is from exp. I ground mine in half and replaced them also only to wear them out after spending the money plus if u replace them u really should rebuild the mounts. I ended up with tubulars so I could get rid of them all together.

11-18-2010, 12:47 AM
ground them in half? mine are above my radiator xmember. so id have to tear into the cross member pretty good to do any damage. but i know better lol.

11-18-2010, 12:53 AM
heres a few pics of my bushing install...

11-18-2010, 12:54 AM

11-18-2010, 12:55 AM

11-18-2010, 01:58 AM
looks good

11-18-2010, 05:54 PM
naw,,,they still good!!!

11-19-2010, 03:02 AM
haha well they wouldnt look SO bad if i hadnt have torched the fuck outta them when i was demo-ing the front for the bodydrop. i didnt intend to reuse them. but i did.

11-19-2010, 06:05 AM
dont matter how they look now its got new ones.... yay!!

11-19-2010, 06:51 AM

ride height!???? ahaha

dB Zac
11-19-2010, 03:51 PM
hell ya, thats a sweet ride height!

11-19-2010, 10:28 PM
actually my ride height is about a half inch front draggin rocker. still get negative camber like a sob! yeah we were doing alignment in that pic as a matter of fact. lol the guys at work get a kick out of the numbers i put up!!

06-07-2011, 03:00 AM
ahhh the 2week bodydrop... brings back memories.

04-10-2012, 09:53 PM
