Hope you guys can help me, my truck's rear starting squeaking a few months ago.. so I did what I was suggested. Flexed the leafs, power washed them, then smeared a dry lubricant on them. It doesn't last long but it gets rid of the squeak for a few weeks. Today I noticed a different sound, aside from the leaf springs squeaking again, this one is a constant sound and stops when I hit the brakes. The rear of my truck had brand new OEM rotors and pads on Feb '08. Any ideas?

my guess is your drive-shaft u-joint is going

How would I confirm that without getting it pulled?

there was a service bulletin on the squeaky leaf pads. dealer will fix it for free.

need more info for the other noise.

goto the dealer and tell them theres a mouse trapped in your axle.... they should be able to get the little fellow out...

LOL! "My" dealer is a pain in the butt sometimes.. I'll just go back to the shop I had install the center bearing and have them check it out. Funny it wasn't squeaking when I had the lift installed to have done it then.

The squeaking is odd because I can't pinpoint it down with the damn leaves squeaking too.. I'll get them flexed and coated again this weekend to try to figure out what the other squeaking is.. it just scares me a little that it ONLY stops when I brake. Then it'll start up again and if I tap the brake it's gone. Did a good 3 mile stretch at 70MPH earlier, and it's constant ... and I only know this because I was a musician... but it squeaks 3 times every second.

I always just put a lil pry bar into the leafs and add some grease between em with a putty knife. easy to do with the back jacked up and the axle hanging

I thought grease was the worst way to go about it? I live in the desert... the winds here never stop lol.

i'd have the brakes checked out again. something is rubbing, like a pad retainer.

my dealer had to order the leaf pads.

check the e-brake pads in the rear disc housing, mine makes a funny noise like squeking, its not hurting anything from what i can tell just have had the funds to replace them yet

Not to be an idiot but where do I check for the e-brake pad? I pressure-washed the leafs and added a dry graphite lube. Hope that does the trick. If I add leaf pads do you guys know what the negative affect is to those? Got rid of a bunch of tiny rocks stuck in all the wrong places with the pressure wash, hoping that was it. Removed all my wheels to check all the pads and rotors while I was at it. They're all good. Lol. Damn mystery squeak.

u have to take the rear disc off and its under that, make sure the e-brake is released, they look just like drum brakes but smaller
