Mild custom. I'm putting a 350 in it. Jamco makes bolt in motor mounts for it and a trans crossmember. Bagging it too have the front bag cups. Probably put a disk brake kit on the front when I get enough money.

I have a 350 just sitting around. If I had a 302 and C4 trans I would use it. Just using what I have.

i hate to be on the same argument (well, not really).....but why not just wait and save up to get the motor that belongs in the car? a Y-block, or even SBF 302 would be so much cooler in that car. Just my opinion, I like seeing ford in ford, chevy in chevy, and hemi's in anything.

I guess my reasoning is that can be changed anytime. With all the parts that are available for 49 - 51 Fords it's all bolt in no fabbing or welding. This will get it going quicker. I have alot more to buy for it. It was sitting in a barn for 15 years before I got it.

Agreed. To quote one of the best fab & resto guys I've ever personally met, "a 350 in that car is like taking the head cheerleader home after prom, lifting up her dress, and staring at her d*ck."

I do have the original motor flathead six. Prefer something more reliable and be able to find parts easier and with a little mor horsepower they are only rated at 90 hp and the flathead 8 has 95hp I think. Youcan't exactly pop into a parts store and expect to get parts for a flatty if something goes wrong.
I definitely understand why you're doing it, just hopefully later down the road you can slap a SBF in it..

you guys are looking into it too much. hes going to build a car to his liking with what he has. hes got a legit point on the 350 over a flathead. im sure most of us (or at least me) would love to have a flat head but there more exspensive then most cars they go in and parts are hard to find.
its his car and its looking good. you guys put chevy motors in nissans..why?? just go buy a nissan titan motor and keep it in the family.
a motor is a motor. as long as it runs and has the power i think itll work.

I don't... They might. To answer your question though, thats the difference between "restored"... and "custom".
Carry on..

because it's not a classic american car that our grandparents and parents owned, these minis have no history...they are just well, imported sheet-metal. Anything 64 and older needs to match and a SBC is just an easy way out, imo. Hope to see you keep that flatty, they don't deserve to be pushed to the side at all.

So, a chevy in a chevy, ford in a ford, but a hemi goes in anything?
Not exactly consistant in your thought process.
Oh yeah, its his truck, he should do whatever he want to do with it

Why does anything 64 and older need to match???
No different than any other car 65 and newer.
