i might be able to get my hands on a viar 400c dual pack for cheap and i was wondering if the 400c is a good compressor.

I dont know if I would run that setup or not. Those 400 compressors are only rated at a 100psi max working pressure and 33% compared to a 450 which is 100% at 150psi max. I found my info from viair, andyou can look at the cfm breakdown and the duty ratings of each.

actually, both compressors are good to 150 psi.

the 400c has a higher cfm, meaning it will fill faster
the 450c has a 100% duty cycle, which means you can run it all day.

there is always a trade off.

400c will be a faster compressor to 150psi. but youll only be able to run it for short periods of time before you overheat it and damage it. it also draws more current while doing it, so make sure your electrical is up to snuff.

the 450c has a 100% duty cycle, so you can run it all day without worry. it takes less juice, and pumps a little slower.

its all on the website man.

but comparing a 200 psi compressor to a 150 isnt an even fight. look at the 480c as a 200 psi version of the 450c. similar current draw and cfm. but once you get to 200 psi, you have more air to play with in your tank. the 400c would still beat it to 150psi.

Personally, I loved my 480 that I put on my Mazda. It filled a little slow, and I had to repair a bearing when it was given to me, but it was still a good comp. It would run all day long.

ok, i'm looking into buying a kit from a guy locally, he bought it for his nissan but recked the truck before he could install it and no longer needs it. it has 4 1/2" single port slam RE-7's, 8 1/2" asco valves, 8 DIN connectors, 2 viair 400c comps, 8 gallon aluminum tank, and 2 200psi easy street dual needle air gauges, all for $875cdn...do you think anyone on here would buy the comps off me, or would it be best to post them on ebay?
