has anyone done an engine swap and used an aftremarket engine management kit ? so far I've looked around and found electromotive and Haltech but I don't know if one brands better than the other or what so I just thought I'd throw this out there in case I can't get the factory stuff to workout. Thanks

MegaSquirt is really popular and way cheaper. Lots of support but u have to do lots of reading.

It's a user programmable electronic fuel injection system.

Megasquirt=megapain compared to the ones you listed. Haltech is one phone call and one problem solved guaranteed! Megasquirt has a forum full of asshats who speak technogeek that the average joe doesn't understand. I had to learn on my own and from one other local guy who happened to be one of the asshats I mention. He helped me get the correct drivers loaded(the biggest problem with megaturd) and autotune to function correctly.

If your engine swap is in the nissan family then I would go with www.nistune.com (http://www.nistune.com), its a much better system with way better support and factory harness for ease of wiring/simplicity.

Also, if you have a small block chevy looking for a programmable ecu then megasquirt would be my LAST choice. The base maps programmed into megasquirt may be made for a lt1 but the factory lt1 ecu is waaaay more powerful and the tables are huge compared to megasquirt. Check out Moates.net for more info on the huge advantages of the lt1 ecu. It can even be programmed to run up to a 12 cylinder engine!

Some good reading is the book "how to tune and modify engine management systems." peace.

Haltech is an awesome ECU, I install them into customer cars and another option is Microtech, Electromotive and Motec. For Megasquirt, I have had a couple of cars come in with it and it isnt to bad. There is a guy local here who does Megasquirt builds and installs and does tuning, he is awesome at it and for the price its not bad at all either. But I have yet tried to tune one, but will eventually get the chance on my 720 project once I get started on it.

Did you email them? They're involved with quite a few newer and older nissans and I am sure would be interested in building one for your titan engine. Like mentioned above though motec is also another good choice. I thinnk they can control vvt like haltechs can as well. peace.
