I just restored my ST's & got them istalled last week.
Each rim took 2.5 hours of cleanin, sanding, polishing & painting.
I used paint remover to remove the clearcoat...
cleaned with Simple green & wire brushes...
wet sanded with 220, 320, 400, 600 then 1500...the aluminum has grooves in it, i got mine smooth...
polish by hand 3 times...
mask off & paint...
clearcoat.........
For the center caps i used "knock out plugs" found @ Home depot 2 inch diameter.
before. All 4 looked like this & had NEVER been cleaned...

The ST's are a MUST if a stock look is desired. Or in my case a 80's theme. Just bought 1 more plug today for an extra...$1.05 in the electrical dept. of Home depot.

Hey what are the "knock out plugs"? I don't think I've ever seen them before. I just got new tires put on 3 days ago and the guy at the tire shop couldn't get the caps to stay on. They are so old that the tabs are braking off. I would really like to get some Z caps but I don't think they fit.

Twisted- go to the electrical dept. @ Home depot or Lowes & ask for "knock out plugs" They cost $1 each & "snap" into whatever you put them on.

i just threw one in the scrap pile, if anyone needs just 1 st wheel and is close by, you can come pick it up for free. it will need some sanding and paint.

I am a true 80's Mini guy myself and prefer the 14" ST's or the old style 15" wheels.
