so, my ole ladys got an 02 sentra. its been acting weird. it will sometimes die when she stops at a light or a stop sign. the tach also shows the rpms pulsing a little, though you cant feel it or hear it from the motor. also its died on her going down the interstate twice. every time it does this, itll crank right back up and drive fine. it also has a little belt squeal every once in a while, but only for a couple seconds and then its fine. anybody have any idea what the hells goin on with it? i know im not givin ya a lot to go on, but any help would be great

Check engine light on? what are the codes? Is it a 1.8L or 2.5L? How many miles?

no engine light. its the 1.8, about 150k on the odometer.

I would say woth no SES light on its kinda odd, after it dies does it start back up right away?

I have an 02 SpecV (2.5L) and had the same kind of issue right after having the HG redone and I had a CPS code pop causing a misfire code in multiple cylinders. I'd say, sadly, you may need to have it looked at my a professional.

Has you wiring harness, does it have any exposed wires or anything like that?

yeah, it cranks right back up. havent looked at the harness, but unless its rubbing some where or something i doubt thatd be it. nothings ever been done to the car other than routine tune up stuff. tryin not to take it to anyone because its such an intermitent problem they would have to keep and drive it every day for a month before it would act up. tahts whats so irritating, the car runs perfect most of the time.

Well if any codes have been thrown they can go in and see that, and I would assume if it just dies it would have to have thrown something.

As for the harness, you'd be surprised, I'd look it over and see if anyone you know owns a OBDII scanner to run it and see if there have been any codes. If not a 50 buck investment at Autozone maybe in order and get you one, even a cheap one will show pending codes.

have you had the maf sensor checked out. mine did some shit similar and ended up being the maf sensor. once i changed it it was fine, but thats was on my 1.8l. happened after i put a cold air intake on it

Isn't that a MAF sensor issue? I'm not even 50% sure.. but from the sounds of it check it out like Tat says. My '03 Sentra belts squealed whenever the hell it wanted to. I pretty much just let that be. Lol Guessing it was the cold start-ups.. after a few seconds it would go away just like yours.

How about engine to chassis ground wires? ECU ground wires?

could be anything from crank or cam sensor to throttle body they have known headgasket issues that leak internally into usually cylinders 3 and or 4 and will give misfire codes. It doesn't sound like a head gasket. When the gasket leaks your overflow tank will loose coolant slowly and after sitting for awhile then starting it will stumble for a bit then be fine. You can pull all four plugs and then pressurize cooling system and look for coolant in the cylinders after several minutes.
