Haha. I'm new, like the site a lot. This actually saved me from having to start a hardbody forum just cuz few exist.
Anyway. Been perusing the classifieds, and it seems there are a lot of threads that either aren't updated when parts sell, or the seller has not posted in a while. Kind of frustrating when the last 5 posts have been of people trying to get ahold of the seller, or reading through something just to find out it's sold.
And people making dupe threads instead of just bumping their previous one for the same item. Not a rampant problem, but have noticed 1 or 2.
Is there anyway to set a time limit on active ads? Maybe after a month, they get deleted and poster has to re-list it, kind of like craigslist? Or at least get the titles changed to *SOLD*?
Just a suggestion. I own a couple forums, and this is how we handle it there, as well as a number of others I am a member of. Keeps everything current and neat.
Either way, keep up the good work. Site is pretty well laid out. I dig the Kelp theme.
Theres not alot of activity in the for sale section as this isnt that big of a site. We do go through the sale ads and trash when we see fit. Its not regular but we do do it. We ask members to update when parts sell. But sometimes parts get sold on other site or even locally so people forget about threads here and they dont get changed or updated

on the forums you own, do you have an auto prune setup or an add on installed? or are you doing it manually? ive looked for something along these lines but cant find anything for the version we are running.
the main problem tho is the users not updating the threads. the ones i see where the item has sold i put in the trash. unfortunately i dont have time to read every post in every thread so some may go overlooked. its safe to assume that if an ad hasnt been updated in a while that the item is no longer available.

There's other forums for HB's? F-that. LoL. This is my HB home. But I'm pickin' up what yer puttin' down. ;) I'm a little OCD about forum clutter.

If people were to report threads that had sold items, would that help you pick through them without cramming your PM box full of reports?
My forums are also small, so it's a non-issue to maintain. On ZR2USA.com, I redid a bunch of stuff when I was an Admin (not the owner) there a few years ago. Broke the F/S section into categories, and moved 1,000's of threads around. What a task that was. Took me a week of 4-5 hours a night to do it. Granted, there's 1,000's of members and there were 4 years of crap to weed through. The only major thing we did there was that parts threads never got deleted because we wanted people to be able to see what similar parts had sold for in the past.
Everything else just gets deleted if it's over a month old, (Ebay finds, vehicle ads, misc item ads, etc, and it just requires a mod going to the end of the section and seeing what threads were over 30 and killing them.
My suggestion for quicker clean-up here is just to search for the term "sold" or "delete" or "lock" in the F/S section and see what comes up. Sometimes you'll get people asking if a part is sold, sometimes you'll get the OP stating that it was. A little time consuming in the beginning, but easy to maintain. Or just kill them at 30 like Craigslist does to make it super easy to maintain.

I lol'd. 3 times. Haha!

Also, since my intro thread doubles as my build thread, and since I posted it in the HB section, could someone maybe move it to the Project Build Log section? TIA!

negative. then it would cram our email boxes because every staff member gets an email for a reported thread.
