01-08-2011, 10:04 AM
i gotta say i love the way the tweed looks with the brown and with what looks like blue? on the center bezel!
now all you gotta do is get a different shift boot and paint the shifter

alabama_lowlife
01-08-2011, 12:26 PM
yeah, the stock interior in his truck was blue. the black/tan thing wasn't intentional but i actually like it, i think, i'll know once i see it in person. We got to find you some seats man......tan seats.

how hard was it refitting ur dash with all the trims and stuff after u tweeded it???? and what adhesive did u use???

JunYa
01-08-2011, 10:47 PM
Ummm... Didnt have any problem what so ever beside the 3 defrost vents wouldnt stay locked in so i just trimmed a little tweed off at the time and i got it. Honestly since i overlaped the tweed it really made it feel more secure *To me* alabama_lowlife told me to use Compound Cement from lowes so i did and it worked great! Acetone will take it right off too if you mess up. got the tweed really cheap from yourautotrim.com which alabama_lowlife told me about also. Lol

01-08-2011, 11:30 PM
great progress man truck is looking good

MurderedOutHardBody
01-09-2011, 12:26 AM
how is the compound cement applied, is it spray on or roll on or what??? mine is painted but im thinkin about a tweed and suede combo to make it look a little cleaner. but i want a good adhesive cuz this truck is a driver and will get some use.

JunYa
01-09-2011, 01:07 AM
It comes in a quart paint can. i just bought some cheap paint brushes and applied it to to dash after cleaning it very good i just put a thin coat of it let it sit for a minute and apply the tweed.

How hard was the dash swap I want to do one to my 92 but not sure sends I have no experience

I did it on my '92 and it's a lot of work. You have to get EVERYTHING out of the donor - there are some key brackets on the side you can't forget to get and then you have to deal with the wiring. It looks like you can pull the whole harness and plug and play it, but I didn't do that. I just rebuilt mine very carefully. Took quite a bit of time to really measure it all out and make it nice and OEM like and not a rats nest. Search on the forums, there is a lot of information.

Great build, man. I completely understand having to go slow and take it one step at a time. Did you ever figure out why your front wouldn't lay out all the way? Once you pulled the rear leaves, did the front lay out then? I'm about to start my rear suspension, and that is really my biggest fear that I will do all this work, and it still not lay frame. I might have to put in some custom bullet holes if it doesn't. LOL

If I were to ever bag my truck, thats the way I would want it to look. Look stock uf high while rolling around, then when parked, layer down.

Decided to get rid of the tweed and do something else with the interior. I think it came out well... we have finally got this thing going, and it rides Damn good. But this is pretty much how it will sit till next year. Here's a few pics..

I was actually gonna dye the whole dash black and I just didn't do it cause the carpet is black and I thought it was just too much black. Alabama lowlife actually threw the black and tan idea out there and it sounded good and I did it and it came out Damn good.

555, are you the new owner of the truck? I saw someone trying to trade that truck for an S10 or something like that.

Its okay, I'm not fond of the painted on Pep boys tribal flames though. Wish he had left it all one color.
