well, first off im new here, my buddy chad chris told me about the site so i decided to join, lol
anyways now to the good stuff, heres a little history about this truck, i got it in a trade, my buddy had it for years, he had one of his buddies bag it a few years ago, it was on black 18's, didnt lay in the front, bed was flared waaaaay too much. it had about 3 diffrent link setups on it, including on reverse 4 link, then the last one was a wishbone. he had me do a tilt bed to it when he owned it and after time it ended up ripping the stock frame, there were stress cracks all over the frame, one almost went all the way through:eek: , when i got it, it didnt have a bridge on it so the notches almost were touching the tires, it was bagged over the axle, still had inner fenders in the front, one supply line going to 4 valves sitting in the engine bay, (with uneven length lines) and the viair 380's were under the hood. so i drove it for almost 6 months, got pissed off at it one day putting gas in it and drove more, and cut it in half;)
i got the wheels for a really good deal from the distributer, the first 2 i got for 80 each, then the second 2 i got for 120 each, they have a fucked offset so i had to narrow my rearend, i stumbled upon a cheep and easy way to do it, the 720's have a 3.5 inch narrower rearend (or around that much) same spine count on the axles and the hardbody third member bolts in (with a little help from a drill) i had to take the plasma and cut the welded on diff cover off the rearend of the 720 axle and the hardbody axle, put the hardbody one on the 720 axle ( since the gears are deeper on a HB i guess) bolted it together, checked for leaks and started my link setup. its now a 4link that i built, the upper bars are adjustable, the lowers are 2x2 .250 with 1 3/4 .120 DOM for endlinks. through the range of travel the pinion angle doesnt change more then a half of a degree. the backhalf is made of 3x2 .120, narrowed 3 inches, it slides into the stock frame 18 inches (fully welded inside old frame) and is gusseted with 1/4 hr plate.
the front is just tubbed enough to lay out, nothing special, had to rebag it because it was only bagged for 18's. (it was actually done halfway decent btw) so now i removed the inner fenders, have to relocate a shit load of wires but its gonna be well worth it, so far its only taken 3 weekends, and a few days during the week. its my daily driver, i need to get it finished because the gas in my f150 is killing me driving 60 miles a day, and i wanna finish my stock floored square body sdime on 22's, lol, oh yeah, im going to repaint it before its on the road again too, i didnt do the 2 tone, i hate it, lol, does anyone around tacoma wanna traded beds? mine is straight, and has a fullskin, i want to go back to stock with a frontier tailgate
